GDPR - General Data Protection Regulation

Welcome to Aalborg University’s course in the Data Protection Regulation. The course will give you a basic understanding of the law and what impact it may have on your work at AAU. The course does not go into the Regulation’s impact on individual processes or systems, or organizational unit or departments such as Human Resources, Study Services etc. However, the course will enable you to understand the principles for handling personal data, and to identify situations where the law applies.

The Executive Management at AAU has decided that the course is mandatory for all members of staff, including managers at all levels, as most of the university staff handles personal data at some level or other.

The course contains 8 modules. You can access it using the instructions below:

 

1. Open your web browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari or similar) and go to https://gdpr.moodle.aau.dk/course/view.php?id=47

2. Sign in with your AAU email and code (the same as for webmail etc).

3. You will now enter the course ‘Materialer og Produktion / Materials and Production’

4. Choose "Enrol me" to sign up for the specific course.

5. Choose the GDPR Danish or English course based on your language preferences.

 

Your status for completion is shown in the box below the menu in Moodle. Status must be: Complete

 

Be aware of pop up blockers: If your browser has a built-in pop up blocker you might not see the window with the course. However, your browser will probably warn you and display a notice for you to click on, to see the pop up. This is different between browsers:

Internet Explorer will probably show a warning either at the buttom of the window or below the address bar.

Chrome will show a small icon in the address bar with a small red mark. Click the icon for options to display the window.

In Safari you can change options in the “Safari” menu.

 

Which course should I choose?

Pick the course that corresponds to your organizational affiliation. You will be directed to the right room when using the link in this email. The faculty courses are for staff at the faculty offices only.

 

How long does it take to complete?

It takes about one hour to complete the course.

 

When have I completed the course?

You have completed the course, once you have been through the content and questions of all eight modules. If there is text to unfold as you go along, you must do so and read it in order to complete the course.

 

Will my quiz answers be saved? What if I give the wrong answer?

The questions in the course are only for reflection on what you have read/seen.  If your answer is wrong, you might want to look at the material once more. The answers will not be saved, and there will not be any assessment of your replies. Likewise, your answers will not affect your completion of the course.

 

Can I return to the course?

Yes. You can return to the material in case you are interrupted or wish to return to the material and use it as reference.
